Espresso Cart Plumbing Kit

The essentials for a mobile espresso cart that is not on city water. One kit covers the fresh-water reservoir, the booster that feeds a plumbed machine, the waste tank, and the hose and fittings to connect them.

Built for catering rigs, pop-ups, and cart builds where the machine expects a pressurized inlet and the drain has nowhere to go but a tank.

What’s included

  • 1 × Polyethylene fresh water tank with quick connect (SKU 2003BB) — 5-gallon reservoir, Corny keg-style quick-connect and stainless dip tube already installed
  • 1 × SHURflo espresso machine mini water pump system (SKU 2002M / 804-002) — 115V, 90 PSI booster with 21 oz accumulator, self-primes up to 8 vertical feet, run-dry safe, NSF / UL / CSA listed
  • 6 ft × 3/8" press-in LLDPE tubing
  • 1 × 3/8" John Guest × 1/4" JG × 3/8" JG tee
  • 1 × 3/8" John Guest × 3/8" BSPT male adapter
  • 6 ft × clear armored 20 mm drain hose (19 mm ID)
  • 1 × polyethylene waste tank, 6.6 gallon (25 L)

What this kit does

The SHURflo 804-002 pulls from the fresh tank and holds incoming line pressure so a plumbed machine does not starve mid-service. The accumulator cuts short-cycling. The built-in pressure-reducing valve means you are not buying a separate regulator.

This is line-pressure equipment. It does not make 9 bar at the puck. The machine’s brew pump still does that.

On the drain side, the armored hose runs from the drip tray into the 6.6-gallon waste tank, which lifts out for dumping. The waste tank is sized larger than the fresh tank so you are not emptying mid-event every time the reservoir is refilled.

Compatibility

  • Plumbed commercial and prosumer machines that need a stable inlet when city water is absent
  • Carts and catering setups drawing from a tank up to 8 vertical feet below the pump
  • Machine water inlets with a 3/8" BSP female port (common on European machines). The BSPT adapter is not NPT
  • Drain connections that accept 20 mm OD / 19 mm ID hose, including La Marzocco drain lines

Not for reservoir-only machines. Those already feed the brew pump from an internal tank and do not need this booster.

Installation

DIY-friendly for anyone comfortable with push-fit plumbing.

  1. Set the fresh tank and mount the pump board where the air valve on the accumulator stays reachable.
  2. Connect the tank’s Corny keg quick-connect to the pump inlet. The pump uses removable 3/8" barbs. A quick-disconnect supply hose is the usual suction-side link if you want tool-free tank swaps.
  3. Run the 3/8" tubing from the pump outlet to the machine. Use the BSPT adapter at a European inlet, and the reducing tee if you are branching a 1/4" line. Cut the tubing square.
  4. Route the drain hose from the drip tray into the waste tank. Secure each end with a hose clamp. Keep the run as short and downhill as the cart allows.
  5. Check the accumulator pre-charge with a tire gauge, plug the pump into a grounded 115V outlet, and open a valve until flow is solid.

Pro tips

  • Keep the fresh tank out of direct sunlight and sanitize it on a schedule. It is a food-contact reservoir.
  • A flat accumulator is the usual reason a new pump chatters. Confirm pre-charge before the first event.
  • Do not force the BSPT adapter into an NPT port. BSP threads start by hand for several turns. NPT binds early.
  • Order is not a closed plumbing diagram. Cart layouts vary. The 6 feet of supply tubing and 6 feet of drain hose cover a typical cart run. Trim to fit.
  • The pump can run dry briefly without damage. Do not treat that as a reason to run the fresh tank empty.

FAQ

Does this replace the pump inside the espresso machine? No. The SHURflo boosts incoming pressure up to 90 PSI. Brew pressure is still made by the machine.

Will this work if my machine only has an internal reservoir? No. Use this kit when the machine is plumbed, or when a remote tank is feeding a plumbed inlet.

Why is the waste tank bigger than the fresh tank? Drip-tray and drain volume add up faster than shot water alone. The 6.6-gallon tank gives you room between dumps.

What thread is the machine adapter? 3/8" BSPT male, for European BSP female inlets. It is not interchangeable with NPT.
