The Conical Burr Advantage

While it is true that both conical burr and flat (wheel) burr grinders produce the consistent even grind we need to turn-out superior espresso, there are advantages to operating a conical burr grinders in your shop.

The most advantageous characteristic of the conical burr grinder is the reduced speeds at which conical burrs are able to operate. Most conical burr grinders rotate at no more than 500 RPM.

First and foremost the reduced operating speeds allow for the preservation of all the aroma and flavor the coffees have to offer. The conical burr's substantially larger grinding surfaces produce an extremely consistent grind. In addition you and your customers will also be pleasantly surprised to find commercial conical burr espresso grinders are much quieter to operate, thanks again to slower grinder motor speeds.
