I bought this to replace a broken knob on my 5-year-old Silvia. The new design works perfectly with my "legacy" machine - no modifications required. I really like the fact that the knob is larger, making it easier to control. The new design is nice as well, but functionality makes this a nice, inexpensive upgrade.
