This 14 gram portafilter basket is shaped like our ever popular F-870 Double 14 gram basket, with a difference. 24mm tall, accepts a 58mm tamper base

The creation of perfect espresso, doesn't stop at the group head. That was the stance we took when heading down the path looking for better portafilter baskets. As a result of testing a lot of baskets, we found that there was a particular basket in the bunch that performed better than the others. Now all we had to do was find the people behind the work. All we can say from here is that as luck would have it, it seems we were looking for each other. The result are these awesome portafilter baskets with a micro-fine finish created utilizing a technique developed by the manufacturer.

The final process used in the creation of the baskets may be the most important. Not only does it leave a distinct sunburst pattern, the inside bottom of the baskets receive a final cleaning using a laser to remove any jagged edges from the perforation process. The result is that every hole in the basket is clear of metal debris and the holes are of even size and shape, allowing for a more even distribution of water through the extraction.

We are offering three different baskets at this time. The idea was to create three baskets based upon our most popular selling baskets.

This micro-fine hole portafilter works perfectly for the Saeco-Starbucks-BMW Sirena espresso machine. I use it with a Gaggia 58mm bottomless portafilter, and works fine. Perfect for a espresso rookie trying to come up with the perfect combination of grinding-tampering for espresso.

Used on my Gaggia Classic. The Classic ships with 2 filter baskets, one way too small, the other way too big. This one is just right for me, it's finer holes allow me to grind one stop finer (Rancillio Rocky) for a nice syrupy ristretto, a little coarser for a nice long Americano, or my standard grind for a perfect double with tight crema that I can float a coin on. Compared to the stock filter baskets, it has a very pronounced ridge that grabs the circular spring in the portafilter. It snaps into the portafilter with a firm click, and takes some effort and a tool to pry it back out- can't do it with a fingernail as I could with the stock filters. I've had no issues with clogging, etc. The grinds rinse right out.

Amazing little upgrade for my Gaggia Espresso Color. With this basket, the holes are smaller and precisely cut so I can use a finer grind setting which would normally choke out the Gaggia's stock basket. Thus, the extraction is much better, and more flavorful. The only caveat is that this basket's ridge is a bit higher, so it is a very tight fit for my machine.

This is the basket that should have come with my Silvia v3. The stock Rancilio basket is only meant to hold 12g. To get more than 14g in the basket meant you had coffee grinds touching the grouphead screen. With this basket i can dose a real double. i think its the cheapest/best upgrade any silvia owner can perform.
