I hesitated to buy one of these but I am very happy that I did. The rubber will stick to your counter tops so it will not slide around. It doesnt leave any residue on the counter that cannot be wiped up with a damp cloth.

It does smell like rubber, but that's not a major impediment to its use. It does a great job of protecting both my portafilters, and my countertop. Perfect.

Good value and the size is more than adequate. I bought two thinking that this may wear fast w/ the portafilter spouts digging into the rubber, it doesn't seem like I will have to unwrap the new one in a long time. Unless your nose is realy close to the rubber, the rubber smell is also not noticeable.

First off, I have to comment on the service I received from Espressoparts dot com. I've been buying online for years and this was the first time I received my items so quickly and so well packaged. About the mat. I read here about possible smell issues I may face and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of smell. Yes, at first when you open the package you undoubtedly know it's rubber, but that dissipates in no time. The quality is great and as a tip, I bought two...one for tamping on and one to place under my grinder who used to dance once I ran it. Now, my grinder sits perfectly still.
